Kachina came to us all the way from Veteran's Ranch in Arizona, and we are extremely excited to have her! She was hand-raised in the house for a few weeks, so she is 100% sure she's a people, and she is the smartest goat I have owned and extremely mischievous. Her grandsire is an Elite Buck, and her granddam is a Top Ten Milker--her pedigree is just littered with Elite Does and Bucks and Top 10 Milkers. She has an incredible udder with great teat shape and milks about a gallon a day. I never understood will to milk until I met this girl--she is so easy to milk and milks out so fast and never holds back. She is one of those goats who always looks pregnant and gets fat on air and stays an easy keeper even in milk. She's a big tanker truck of a doe, and wide even before you factor in her rumen.

We didn't intend to keep Nebula, really we didn't. She was the first kid out of her dam Andromeda, and we knew that we would only have one buck for a while, so we didn't want to keep any first freshener doe kids who would be contingent on getting another buck to breed. But oh, she is so gorgeous! She is built wide and deep and strong, with an amazingly level topline and large, comfortable teats. She is an absolute powerhouse of a milker, averaging 12lbs per day as a first freshener! Nebula is also our sweetest goat. We're not allowed to put her back in the stall after milking until she has been sufficiently cuddled and scratched.

I wasn't sure about keeping a kid from Kachina and Flag, but Kachina freshened with a stunning udder and Flag's first daughter to freshen came out as a powerhouse milker (12lbs /day), so I decided on Maya. She is a really solid kid and is going to be a tanker truck of a doe, like her dam. She also has a lovely udder arch and escutcheon, so I expect great things of her udder and her milking ability. Finally, she is line bred on my favorite buck of all time, Split-Creek Spinning Top, on both her dam's side and her sire's side. She was the only kid we retained in 2024, and as a result she is convinced that she's the center of the universe.
