Babies are very fragile. Do not buy a buckling if you have no experience raising bottle babies. All kids are inspected for physical deformities, but there are no guarantees on the long-term health of these kids. Once you get in your car with your kid, their health is 100% your responsibility.
All of our goats are purebred, ADGA registered Nubians. We test every year for disease (CL, CAE, Johnne's, and Q-Fever), so these babies come from a guaranteed disease-free herd and very high-quality lines. We often have a surplus of bucklings, and we will not sell a registered intact buckling from a first-time mom. All bucklings sold in this sale are sold unregistered and will not be registered under any circumstance, either now or in the future. All does are registered--we do not sell unregistered does. If you are interested in ADGA registered Nubian dairy goats, please check on our Breeding and Kidding Info page.
Babies spend the first 24 hours with mom, nursing and being cared for. They will have had plenty of colostrum and their first bowel movement. However, they are not yet trained on how to drink from a bottle. You will have to teach them. Make sure you have bottles, nipples, and milk on hand. You can purchase one gallon of freeze-dried goat milk for an additional $20 when you pick up your buckling.
Babies require round-the-clock care. Be prepared for feedings every 4 hours to start. You will receive a care sheet with your new kid. Keep in mind newborns cannot regulate their body temperature - do not expose your kid to the cold!
You may not come to the farm and pick out your kid. We take biosecurity very seriously, and we have lots of other newborns onsite that we cannot expose to germs. We will meet you in a secure area with your buckling. Sales are cash only.
The list is first-come, first-served. Once you are notified that your buckling is ready, you have 12 hours to pick him up before we move on to the next person on the list. Planned due dates are listed on our Breeding and Kidding Info page.
